50th Figawi Race Weekend
This weekend marks the 50th anniversary of Figawi Race Weekend, along with the event s first-ever two-day racing series Saturday and Sunday. The Figawi Race Committee, led by Principal Race Officer Tom Duggan, will be orchestrating the pursuit long-distance races.
And yet as more vaccines are available than ever, uptake is slowing down.

A weekly vaccination report published Thursday by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health shows that while 65% of white Barnstable County residents have received at least one shot, the percentage fell to 42% and 60% for Black and Hispanic Cape Codders.

HYANNIS – Nurses picketing outside Cape Cod Hospital on Wednesday afternoon said they already have negotiated salary increases with management at Cape Cod Healthcare.
Now they are rallying for improved staffing levels a move they said is needed to keep patients safe. Nurses are overwhelmed. The patient assignments are too burdensome to give the care patients deserve, said Michelle Brum of Mashpee, who leads the Massachusetts Nurses Association chapter at Cape Cod Hospital with Shannon Sherman of Yarmouth.
The nurses union is asking management to free charge nurses who run nursing operations in a unit from having to care for patients as well, Brum said.
