Cape Town â The Cape of Good Hope SPCA has lauded the conviction of serial puppy seller Christopher Van Rooyen on multiple charges of animal cruelty.
The organisation said he was found guilty in the Cape Town Magistrateâs Court on Friday on ten charges of animal cruelty in terms of the Animals Protection Act. Van Rooyen was sentenced to a fine of R1500 or 30 days imprisonment on each count.
âIn 2018, inspectors of the Cape of Good Hope SPCA laid various charges in two separate dockets against Van Rooyen for animal cruelty in terms of the Animals Protection Act 71 of 1962.

Cape Town – The cousin of suspected 28s gang boss Ralph Stanfield is among 10 men who were arrested for smashing luxury cars at a dealership last month.
The accused have been sent to jail after their appearance in the Cape Town Magistrate s Court on Monday.
Simon Stanfield, along with Jeffrey Pitolo, Keith September, Anzio Arnolds, Adiel Paul, Luke Pretorius, Kevin Kiddo, John Fernandez, Mogamat Stellenboom and Jonathan Petersen, are charged with two counts of attempted robbery and malicious damage to property for the incident at The Toy Shop in Milnerton.
