The wheels of justice are finally starting to turn, the DA says on Judge President John Hlophe.
The JSC Tribunal found Hlophe guilty of gross misconduct for trying to sway two ConCourt judges to rule in favour of Jacob Zuma in 2008.
The DA called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to appoint a retired judge to investigate all allegations of undue influence and possible bribery of members of the judiciary.
Judge President John Hlophe’s behaviour through the years has decimated the reputation of the Western Cape Division of the High Court, the DA said on Sunday.
But now, the party said in a statement, the wheels of justice are finally starting to turn.

Cape Town - The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is considering its options after its case against ANC MP Bongani Bongo was dismissed by the Western Cape High Court on Friday.
Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe granted Bongo his section 174 application and found him not guilty on a charge of corruption on the basis of insufficient evidence.
Bongo had been charged with attempting to bribe a now former parliamentary official, Ntuthuzelo Vanara, in a bid to collapse a 2017 parliamentary enquiry into SOEs and Eskom.
At the time, Vanara was evidence leader in the parliamentary investigation which was running parallel to another inquiry into the capture of state-owned enterprises, now known as the Zondo Commission.

Johannesburg - After a week-long deliberation it would appear the 12-year-old case against Judge John Hlophe will finally be brought to a close by the Judicial Conduct Tribunal that was set up in 2013 to probe the matter.
Held over five days last week at the Premier Hotel, OR Tambo International Airport in Kempton Park, east of Joburg, the tribunal conducted hearings on the complaint lodged by Justices of the Constitutional Court against Hlophe, President of Western Cape Division of the High Court.
On Friday, parties on both sides of the matter made their closing arguments at the tribunal.
