Ancelotti s employers, however, were left infuriated when City returned to training on Wednesday. There are clubs making statements complaining when it (the postponement) is just thinking about health when a lot of people in the UK are dying every day, said Guardiola. I prefer the statement from Carlo Ancelotti than the one from the club. We had enough players to play against Everton. We wanted to play. But the day of the game we had three more cases. The virus was inside our training centre. We informed the Premier League. What happened if the Everton players were infected from us? It was a huge risk.

Manchester City will be without five players for Sunday s Premier League trip to Chelsea due to positive tests for coronavirus, Pep Guardiola has confirmed as he defended the decision to postpone Monday s clash with Everton.
City revealed there had been four positive cases at the club on Christmas Day, including for players Kyle Walker and Gabriel Jesus.
A further round of testing found three more cases among the City squad on Monday, leading to the match being called off just four hours before kick-off.
Kyle Walker and Gabriel Jesus tested positive for Coronavirus before Christmas, and three more positive cases were confirmed on Monday.
With an outbreak of the infection in the squad, the game against Everton was postponed until further notice.
Guardiola says the Club were ready to fulfil the fixture against Everton, but the Premier League advised the game should be cancelled on health grounds.
With no further positive cases confirmed in the intervening period, Sunday’s game at Chelsea will go ahead, but Guardiola’s options have been significantly reduced.
“We have five [players out] right now,” he said. “Five players. The first cases were two players and two staff - and then three players the second time.
