Manchester City kept their Carabao Cup defence firmly on track after easing past Arsenal with a 4-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium to book their place in the semi-finals.
Gabriel Jesus headed the visitors into an early lead in the third minute but Arsenal hit back against the run of play through Alexandre Lacazette (31).
However, the Gunners, who lost Gabriel Martinelli to injury just after half-time, were behind again in the 54th minute after goalkeeper Alex Runarsson let Riyad Mahrez s free-kick through his hands and into the net.
Phil Foden added City s third (59) with a deft finish, despite replays suggesting he had strayed offside, before Aymeric Laporte s header (73) rounded off proceedings for Pep Guardiola s side, who are now 18 games without a defeat in the League Cup as they bid to win the competition for a fourth straight time.

Arsenal vs Manchester City Player Ratings: 8/10 Foden the standout; Poor Runarsson, Mustafi get 3
Analysis
Phil Foden starred for Manchester City as they beat a poor Arsenal side 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium to advance to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
Just three minutes into the game, Manchester City were up and running as Gabriel Jesus headed home an Oleksandr Zinchenko cross from close range. The Cityzens continued to control the game from there on, but against the run of play, Arsenal found an equaliser in the 31st minute as Alexandre Lacazette headed in a fine cross from Gabriel Martinelli.
The Arsenal manager picked a second-string team and watched his goalkeeper, Alex Rúnarsson, endure a torrid evening. The low point came when the Icelander fumbled a Riyad Mahrez free-kick into the net to give City a 2-1 lead. Rúnarsson had also been partly to blame for Gabriel Jesus’s opening goal.
It was a night when so much went wrong for Arteta. Gabriel Martinelli, who made Arsenal’s equaliser for Alexandre Lacazette, was forced off after taking a kick to the shin while City’s third goal, scored by Phil Foden, ought to have been disallowed for offside only there was no recourse to VAR.
