The victim, a 46-year-old city resident, was parked and sitting in his driver’s seat near the corner of Main Street and Broadway, about two blocks from Paterson police headquarters, when the shooting took place, authorities said.
The shooter apparently was aiming at another vehicle driving through the area, according to a release issued by Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes. The city’s downtown is one of the areas where Paterson police officials said they have deployed walking patrols through the summer to combat the spike in shootings in the city.
