A teenage speedway starlet who suffered a life-threatening brain injury nearly two years ago is set to speak at a neurological conference next month.
Sam Norris, from Linton, near Haverhill, was riding for Mildenhall Fen Tigers when he crashed his 250cc bike while racing at the British Youth Championships in Glasgow in June 2019.
The then-15-year-old was on life support for two days and doctors feared he may not survive.

A new housing development on land which was once part of the Huntingdon campus of Cambridge Regional College will be used for social housing.
The 56 homes, which have just been given detailed approval by Huntingdonshire District Council, will be split between two thirds social rent and the rest for shared ownership and rent to buy.
They are being built by the Longhurst Group, an independent charitable registered provider of social housing, and will come in prefabricated form with much of the construction taking place off site.
Longhurst said in its planning application that modern construction techniques offset the poor reputation of post-war prefabricated homes, including the use of sustainably sourced timber, construction in a highly controlled environment where high quality workmanship can be achieved, together with rapid building.

Cambridge Regional College applauds assessors and apprentices as they continue to face the challenges of being key workers through the pandemic
.
The college, which has a campus in Huntingdon, says the challenges for frontline workers during the pandemic are vast, but for apprentices this has been a learning curve like no other as they negotiate work-based learning on the frontline.
CRC Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) for Health and Social Care and care home registered nurse, Julie Thorogood said, “It was important to me that our apprentices were fully supported during the pandemic.
A second scheme will involve use of technology in maths and English.
And at Alconbury Weald, the College of West Anglia and West Suffolk College will join forces on a construction training hub.
Working with Urban and Civic the focus will be on retraining people who have been displaced due to COVID-19 or who have been long-term unemployed.
“The hub will also offer upskilling opportunities to existing labour force to enable them to meet the technological changes, the digitalisation of construction and meeting the jobs of the future,” says Mayor Palmer.
Local colleges and providers can bid for grants for up to £50K to test new and innovative ways of delivering training courses to adults aged over 19.
