Johnstown Homicide
Police are investigating a homicide in Dale Borough after a shooting Wednesday morning left one man dead.
Cambria County coroner Jeff Lees says the man was shot multiple times in the basement of a home along the 400 Block of Cliff Street. Police say the shooting happened around 3:00 am and that multiple people were inside the home, but they don’t know if they are related to the victim. Lees says an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
No one is in custody and District Attorney Greg Neugbauer says they have a search warrant for the home to further the investigation. He asks that if anyone has any information to contact Johnstown police and that there’s no reason for residents in the borough to worry.
Joshua Gorgone Will Head to Trial
The case against Cambria County man charged with killing a woman will go to trial.
Police say Joshua Gorgone met Denise Williams, who was trying to buy a refrigerator off him using Facebook.
Gorgone appeared in Cambria County Court Monday where investigators testified that he stabbed Williams in his Geistown apartment following an argument over a $40 price difference on a refrigerator he had advertised under an assumed name on Facebook Marketplace last month.
Williams was buying the refrigerator for her boyfriend.
Monday’s preliminary hearing was moved from a local magistrate’s office to the Cambria County Courthouse in Ebensburg to allow her family to attend while abiding by pandemic restrictions.
Domestic Violence
Officials say 31-year-old Tiffany Busch was shot and killed by her husband, Chad Busch.
“It’s believed that the incident began as a verbal domestic dispute between a husband and wife,” said Cambria County District Attorney Greg Neugebauer.
Investigators say two children were present in the home along Virginia Avenue at the time of the incident.
“One of the children, a very young child, was in the room at the time. I can’t imagine a child being subjected to seeing that,” Neugebauer said.
Neugebauer said he’s seen this trend increasing since the pandemic began.
“Unfortunately, we have seen an increase over the last year or so of children being present for domestic violence issues, physical and verbal,” he told 6 News.
A Pennsylvania woman lost her life after being stabbed by a man she met on Facebook Marketplace. Authorities identified the victim as Denise Williams, 54, who was trying to get a fridge to give as a gift to her boyfriend, according to a WJAC report.
Authorities noted that Williams family reported her missing on Monday, the day she checked out the refrigerator.
