Plans for the second phase of Newarkâs historic Buttermarketâs redevelopment are under way.
All the units on the first floor of the centre are now occupied.
The scheme for phase two covers the upper floor of the centre, off Middlegate.

It was outlined at a meeting of Newark and Sherwood District Councilâs economic development committee.
It will see the first floor stripped out to enable access work, as well as work on the main atrium.
Any use for the first floor will not have an impact on these works, but once a use is defined and agreed then the appropriate fit out works will be commissioned.

A florist in Newark town centre is making the move into a larger unit â just next door.
Sweetpea Flowers by Design said the expansion into the former Happy Sundaes unit on Church Street was an opportunity the business could not miss. When the space became available we just had to go for it and it means we keep our location, which we love, said owner Melanie Slack.
The former Happy Sundaes unit will be the home to Sweetpea Flowers by Design from March 1.

Calls have been made for more time for residents to have their say over the A46 Newark bypass dualling.
Mrs Maureen Dobson, of Collingham, told Newark and Sherwood District Councilâs economic development committee that residents needed more time.
The first stage of public consultation, which opened on December 9, is due to close tomorrow (Tuesday).

Mrs Dobson said residents did not have time to think about the proposals due to coronavirus and the busy nature of the Christmas and new year period.

New era for clinical research in Nottingham
A new agreement to create a joint service for the support of clinical researchers in Nottingham is launched today (29 January 2021) by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Nottingham.
The new Nottingham Joint Research Office (NJRO) promises to significantly improve research and development activity across the two organisations benefiting patients and boosting the city’s world-wide reputation for advances in clinical care.
Medical Director for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, Dr Keith Girling, welcomed the new development and the ambition to bring the existing strengths of both organisations together to deliver greater benefit to patients:
