The Ernakulam Rural police probing the incident have prima facie found that to be the case. The police believe that the gang targeted the person based on the wrong information they received.
A search is on to trace the person the gang had planned to abduct. Meanwhile, the police have arrested one more person in connection with the incident, taking the total number of people arrested so far to 10.

The Nedumbassery police on Thursday arrested eight more persons in connection with the alleged abduction of an air passenger from the Cochin International Airport by a gang on Sunday.
The arrested are Aurangazeeb,39, of Aluva, Shiril, 30, Shamnaz, 22, Muhammed Salih, 25, Ahammed Masood, 24, Sakkeer, 27, Raisal, 27, and Riyas, 34, all residents of Manjali. This was in addition to one Ibrahimkutty aka Ibroo, 44, of Mudikkal in Perumbavoor who was arrested earlier this week.

A pastor was arrested on Saturday on the charge of sexually abusing a minor girl.
The arrested is Mathew, 74, of Idukki. The alleged incident took place in January and was revealed after the victim told her mother about the assault. The accused was arrested from Idukki following a petition filed by the victim’s mother.
A team led by Perumbavoor DySP N.R. Jayaraj, Inspector C. Binukumar, Sub Inspector Aby George, Assistant Sub Inspector Venugopalan, Senior Civil Police Officers Abdul Manaf, Pramod A.O., and Priya K.R. made the arrest.
