Implement changes only after consultations, activists tell in letter Social and environmental scientists, social activists, ecologists and geographers have appealed to Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan to intervene immediately to stop the reforms that are under way in Lakshadweep and to review them urgently.
“The changes being proposed, apparently for the welfare of the people, should be implemented only after a thorough consultative process. The programmes being planned should have a long-term vision and follow a regional, need-based, consultative approach rather than the top-down way being envisaged now,” they said in a letter to the Gove

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], May 24 (ANI): The first session of the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly commenced on Monday with all Covid-19 protocols in place.
The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected 140 MLAs is underway at the Kerala Assembly.
Out of the 140 elected MLAs, 99 MLAs belong to the CPM-led LDF party and 41 MLAs belong to the Congress-led UDF party. The swearing-in ceremony commenced before protem Speaker of the Assembly, PTA Rahim.
Three days ago, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan administered an oath to the Kerala protem Speaker.

Thiruvananthapuram, May 24 : On his 76th birthday, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan wrote himself into assembly records when he took oath as a legislator in the floor of the Kerala Legislative Assembly on Monday.
This is the first time that a sitting Left government is getting a second term in office.
Vijayan arrived early and was seen exchanging pleasantries with his fellow treasury bench legislators.
