THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has sent a letter to his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath seeking his intervention in the case of Siddique Kappan, a Malayali journalist in custody under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in Mathura, who has been facing severe health issues.
Earlier, 11 UDF MPs led by K Sudhakaran shot off a joint letter to Chief Justice, N V Ramana seeking the Supreme Court s intervention.

The chief minister took social media to pay tribute to Justice Shantanagoudar. Former Kerala High Court Chief Justice and sitting judge of the Supreme Court of India, Justice Mohan M Shantanagoudar had made seminal contributions in the administration of justice. He had left his indelible mark on our judicial system through several notable judgments delivered during his tenure both at the High Court and at the Supreme Court. It was his commitment to citizens fundamental rights and personal liberty that truly set him apart, Vijayan wrote.

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], April 25 (ANI): Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday wrote to his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath, requesting him to ensure better medical treatment to journalist Siddique Kappan, who has been in the custody of Uttar Pradesh Police since October last year. It has been brought to my attention by the Kerala Union of Working Journalist and some of the prominent media persons of national repute that Siddique Kappan, a journalist from Kerala presently in custody under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh is facing severe health problems, wrote Vijayan in his letter to Adityanath.

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], April 24 (ANI): Kerala has increased its production of oxygen from 99.39 metric tonnes in April last year to 219 metric tonnes in April this year.
At a time when several states are facing a severe shortage of medical oxygen, Kerala has managed to increase its medical oxygen supply and storage.
Speaking to ANI, Southern Gas Ltd, Trivandrum, manager Aparna Nayar said, For the last two weeks, there has been a drastic increase in demand for medical oxygen. We are trying to meet this increased demand. We have fully stopped industrial production and are filling medical oxygen only.
