LNG terminal approved as dispensing station Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA The Kochi terminal of Petronet LNG Ltd has become the country’s first LNG dispensing station. The Petroleum Explosive and Safety Organisation has issued permanent licence to the terminal to provide automotive fuel to motor vehicles. The licence was issued after a year-long trial run, which was deemed successful. The company is expected to set up more such stations across Kerala with the support of the State government. LNG stations would ensure development of a green ecosystem that would reduce pollution, Yogananda Reddy, Chief General Manager and Vice President (Plant Head), said.

It has also decided to reduce fares of air-conditioned low-floor JnNURM (Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission) buses by slashing the fares hiked during the COVID-19-induced lockdown. While the minimum charge for 5 km has been retained at ₹26, the fare for subsequent km has been reduced from 187 to 126 paise.

‘Govt. policy is to help RTC; ₹6,000 cr. given in 5 years’ The government has expressed willingness to form an independent society under it instead of floating a legally independent company, KSRTC-SWIFT, for operating long-distance buses under the proposed restructure of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). The offer to form the society was extended by Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac on Friday to win over the three recognised trade unions of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) that are opposing the formation of the independent company. At the talks in the presence of Transport Minister A.K. Saseendran and KSRTC Chairman and Managing Director Biju Prabhakar in the Secretariat here, Dr. Isaac said the formation of the society was the alternative that the government could offer.
