Kerala Financial Corp crosses ₹5,000-cr mark in loan assets

Kerala Financial Corporation, a leading State Financial Corporation, has surpassed a historic milestone of ₹5,000 crore in loan assets with the December 31, 2020-number clocking in at ₹5,022 crore, a whopping 176 per cent increase over the previous year’s ₹2,838 crore.
“We have achieved the highest growth among all government-owned State Financial Corporations in the country,” said Tomin Thachankari, Chairman and Managing Director. This has surpassed expectations and has been facilitated by fresh loan sanctions of ₹3,385 crore so far in the current financial year.

Share Article Farmers in Kuttanad are gearing up for the harvest of the ‘puncha’ crop (first crop).
According to the Agriculture Department officials, the harvest will begin later this month. Farmers have undertaken paddy farming in more than 29,000 hectares in the district this season, a major portion of which is in Kuttanad.
“Preparations for the paddy harvest have begun in the district. A meeting to be attended by District Collector A. Alexander is scheduled for February 12. Representatives of farmers, combine harvester machine agents and others will attend the meeting. Steps will be taken to bring combine harvesters from neighbouring States,” said an official of the Agriculture Department.

Instead of kits, food security allowance for the months from September last to this March in the 2020-21 academic year for all students eligible for mid-day meals will be distributed in the form of coupons.
The government has issued orders sanctioning the distribution through Supplyco outlets on production of the food coupons.
Food kits were distributed as food security allowance to students through Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation (Supplyco) for the months of June, July, and August.

Technical glitches in the Aadhar-based Electronic Point of Sale (EPoS) machines affected the Public Distribution System in the State as supply of food grains came to a halt on Wednesday morning. Distribution of food kits as well as the monthly allocation of grains was affected due to network issues, which prevented authentication of the consumers.

Technical glitches in the Aadhar-based electronic Point of Sale (EPoS) machines affected the Public Distribution System in the State as supply of food grains came to a halt on Wednesday morning. Distribution of food kits as well as the monthly allocation of grains was affected due to network issues, which prevented authentication of the consumers.
“The system was working fine till 10 a.m. We had managed to distribute food kits to a few people in the morning. But after that, we have been unable to get connected to the server. The server has gone down intermittently in the past too,” said the owner of a rationshop at Kuravankonam in the capital.
