A few districts in Kerala are likely to receive isolated heavy rainfall till Wednesday under the influence of Cyclone Yaas which has formed in the Bay of Bengal.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has put Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Idukki districts on yellow alert till Wednesday, given the likelihood of isolated heavy rainfall.
Other districts can expect light to moderate rainfall.
There are no curbs on fishing along the Kerala coast, the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) said.
The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal had intensified into cyclonic storm Yaas on Monday morning. The system is expected to move northwestwards toward the Odisha-West Bengal coasts.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The incessant rain triggered by Cyclone Tauktae has forced 5,235 people of 1,479 families to seek shelter in relief camps opened by the state. As many as 397 (8%) of them were either Covid positive or had suspected symptoms of the infection, according to the data available with the state government. As there are hardly two weeks left for the onset of Southwest Monsoon in the state, the rising Covid cases would be a headache for the state authorities.
According to sources, these were known cases even before shifting them to camps. It is not known if there were any unidentified Covid patients among the displaced as it was not possible to hold tests for them in the hour of emergency. A high-wave warning has been sounded for the Kerala coast till Tuesday night in view of the rough weather in the Arabian Sea.
The Kerala coast from Pozhiyoor to Kasaragod is likely to be lashed by high waves till 11.30 p.m. on Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) noted.

Thiruvananthapuram, May 16 : A fishing boat, with 15 aboard, which had sailed from Beypore in Kerala s Kozhikode from May 5 and was declared missing as there was no contact with it for the past couple of days, has been located off the Mangaluru coast, it was announced on Sunday.
P.A. Mohammed Riyas, the MLA-elect from Beypore, told media persons that he got information from the Kerala coastal police that the boat, Ajmer Shah is anchored off the Mangaluru coast and all the 15 fishermen on the boat are safe.
