Letters began going home to parents at a growing number of schools starting last Thursday and continuing over the weekend, with coronavirus cases or possible exposures causing the transition online at Lucian Adams Elementary, Port Acres Elementary, Thomas Jefferson Middle School, Abraham Lincoln Middle School, Memorial 9th Grade Academy, Memorial High School, Career and Technology Education campus and Wilson Early College High School.

(NIAID/TNS)NIAID, HO / TNS Memorial High School became the fourth Port Arthur ISD school to announce a transition to online classes due to a surge of coronavirus cases after the Thanksgiving Holiday. The move, the third this weekend, was announced Sunday afternoon. A message to parents of Memorial High and Career and Technology Education students said only that a student “involved in extracurricular activity tested positive for COVID-19.” It followed the announcement Saturday that Port Acres and Lucian Adams elementary schools also would shift from in-person to online learning due to cases of the coronavirus on those campuses. Lincoln Middle School closed its campus four days earlier.
