Mayo Garda Chief says gardai in the county are making inroads on drug dealing Published: Monday, 08 February 2021 12:02 The garda drugs unit in Mayo, routinely stopped a man acting suspiciously on the street in Balla on Friday evening last, and in a follow up search of a private house in the area, seized over 73,000 euro in cocaine. Three people appeared before a Special Sitting of Castlebar court on Saturday charged in relation to the offences. The Garda Chief Superintendent for Mayo Tony Healy says that Mayo has a well resourced drug unit and insists the gardai are making inroads into drug dealing in the county.

HID Global to create over 100 new jobs in Galway Published: Monday, 08 February 2021 11:37 A technology security company in Galway has announced plans to hire more than 100 new staff over the next 3 years. HID Global is to open a Centre of Excellence at Mervue Business Park in Galway later this year, and will increase its total number of employees in the city to 300.   HID Global is a multinational company  headquartered in Texas, and currently employs some 3,000 staff worldwide.   The firm specialises in identity technology, manufacturing a range of secure ID cards - including Ireland s passport card. HID Global says the site at the Mervue Business Park was chosen, due to the availability of skilled staff and strong language skills in the region.
