Tributes have been paid to retired District Court Judge Bernard (Barney) Brennan, who has passed away at his home near Tubbercurry.
Judge Brennan was known for his wit on the bench, as well as his compassionate manner, and is survived by his wife, Nancy and 5 children.
For many years, Judge Brennan sat in what was known as District 4 in the courts service whose courts venues included Ballyhaunis, Castlerea and Ballaghaderreen.
Amongst those to express online condolences to the Brennan family on their loss has been retired District Court Judge Mary Devins and her husband, Jimmy.

A new application for planning is to be submitted by the IDA for an industrial facility on the Sligo Road in Ballina.
That’s according to Mayo Fianna Fail deputy Dara Calleary.
Planning on the existing site has expired, and deputy Calleary told Midwest News this morning that he hopes the new plan will re-assess the needs of any potential investor at the site, that has been in the IDA’s ownership for some time now.
