On
By Ubong Essien
Small and medium scale enterprises, SMEs, constitute the foundation on which any economy rests. In fact, they are the engine room that powers economies around the world, including the developed economies. A country that seeks to have a strong economic base must have a thriving SMEs sector.

The Secretary, Board of Trustees, Ndokwa Neku Union, NNU, Chief Henry Okechukwu, has commended the mature way the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, handled last Saturday’s incident when some unruly youths blocked the road when his entourage was going to Okpai to inspect a power project being built in the town.
In a statement by Okechukwu, which was made available to our correspondent yesterday, he also warned youths in the area against being used by some selfish people to foment trouble or put the community into ridicule.
He added that if not for the great restraint shown by Senator Omo-Agege and his team, a joyful occasion would have become unpleasant.

THE Senate Tuesday threatened to issue an arrest warrant against Officials of Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) and 54 others government agencies for refusing to honour its several invitations.
Disclosing this on Tuesday in Abuja during the meeting of his Committee, Chairman, Senate Committee on Public Accounts, Senator Matthew Urhoghide, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Edo South said that members of the Committee are angry and disappointed that the arrest warrant has become imperative because these agencies of government have vehemently refused to attend their meetings to answer to queries on how they spent money that was appropriated by the Senate.
