Hermitage STARs showcase for families set July 17

Five Florida public school arts teachers will showcase the work they have developed during their residency at the Hermitage Artist Retreat in an interactive presentation on July 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The family-friendly event will be held on the Great Lawn at the Hermitage, 6660 Manasota Key Road in Englewood. It includes brief presentations followed by hands-on, interactive activities. Guests may participate in ceramics, selfies, and other activities.
The five teaching artists are winners of the 2021 State Teacher Artist Residency program (STAR), presented by the Hermitage in partnership with the Florida Alliance for Arts Education:
The Alachua County Public Schools district has launched its free summer meals program.
The free summer meal program began Monday, giving students from babies to age 18 a free breakfast and lunch. Hot meals will be given to children at 93 locations Monday-Thursday.
Caron Rowe, food service specialist, said times can vary so she encourages parents and children to check the website at yourchoicefresh.com.
Multiple pickup options are being provided, such as in-person service, bus stop locations and curbside grab-and-go meals.
Starting Thursday and continuing through the summer the district will also have free grab-and-go distribution at 19 curbside locations from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
