What Hall County families are saying about students returning to class in person

After easing back in to a in-person schedule this week, both the Gainesville City School System and the Hall County School District plan to have all face-to-face learners in the classroom next week.  Gainesville Superintendent Jeremy Williams issued a statement to students and staff saying the system plans to stagger the return of students.  After a productive week with a number of our students back in school and those learning at home, we will continue phasing students back to school, Williams said.   Monday, January 25, all 3rd Grade through 8th Grade students will return to Face-to-Face Instruction.Wednesday, January 27, all 9th Grade through 12th Grade students will return to Face-to-Face Instruction.

Gainesville City Schools to call off face-to-face learn

Add the Gainesville City School System to the list of public school districts altering in-person learning schedules because of increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases in the area. Superintendent Jeremy Williams announced Tuesday morning that the last day for students in a face-to-face format before the holiday break will be Wednesday, Dec. 16.  Due to the increase of COVID-19 cases and exposures in Gainesville City, Hall County, and other locations our employees reside, we have reached a tipping point where we are no longer able to provide coverage in all of our major departments (school nutrition, transportation, classrooms, nurses, etc.), Williams wrote in a statement.

(Photo: Gainesville City School System) The Gainesville City School System was recently awarded the 2020 Georgia School Boards Association Leading Edge Award in recognition of Gainesville High School’s student success center, “The Hub.” The Leading Edge Award recognizes innovative practices by governance teams and school districts around the state and highlights school districts that implement special or unique projects and programs. The Hub, which assists in providing resources and services directly impacting students, families and communities within Gainesville and Hall County, was recognized for having a positive impact on students’ achievement and school engagement.
