Shopkeepers fined for selling substandard food items

MARDAN: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Authority officials here on Tuesday fined bakeries, hotels and food shops for poor hygienic conditions and sale of substandard food.
Assistant Director Mohammad Ibrahim Khan told the media that he along with Food Safety Officer Madiha conducted a major operation on Shamsi Road.
He added that 32 kilograms of unhealthy milk was discarded on the spot and the shop was sealed. He added that heavy fines were imposed on grocery stores for selling expired items. He added that about 15 kg of unhealthy meat from various hotels was discarded during the raids.
Crackdown against adulteration mafia intensified in KP

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has intensified crackdown against adulteration mafia, discarding a large number of unhealthy food items in various operations in the province on Thursday.
Director Operations Food Safety Authority Dr Azmatullah Wazir said that crackdowns were being conducted on directives of Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority Sohail Khan to ensure quality food items to people.
He said that the food safety authority’s team paid a surprise visit to bazaar in Mardan and seized several unhealthy food items amounting to 1200 kg, adding three sweet factories, two warehouses and five shops were also sealed for violating hygiene norms and manufacturing substandard items.
KOHAT: Adviser to the chief minister on information technology Zaiaullah Bangash announced on Wednesday that 80 mosques and imambargahs in Kohatwould be put on solar power at a cost of Rs30.2 million.
Speaking at a function to distribute solar plates and batteries among 12 mosques in Urban- 1 and city mosques, he said subsequent to the solarisation of 35 mosques in Urban-5 and Jungle Khel localities, solar plates had been distributed among 12 mosques in PK-82. He said worship places would now get uninterrupted power supply.

Hazardous energy drinks seized

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (KP FS&HFA) has seized 12,000 bottles of banned and hazardous energy drinks during a raid on a warehouse in Hashtnagri area of the provincial capital on Tuesday.
The General KP FS&HFA officials sealed the warehouse and imposed heavy fine on the accused. The officials said that sale and purchase of energy drinks was banned in the province.
“After the extension of KP FS&HFA operations to 15 more districts, the quality of food items would now further improve,” said Director Operations Dr Azmat Ullah Wazir. “This will help us achieve our goal of “Safe Food, Healthy People.”
