KP Assembly approves supplementary budget

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Tuesday approved the supplementary budget for the current financial year 2020-21 unanimously.
The demands for grant of about Rs109.118 billion supplementary budget was presented on June 18 in the provincial assembly. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Minister Taimur Salim Jhagra informed the House that the federal government would pay Rs36 billion in installments on account of net hydel profit to the province.
A total of 55 demands for grant were tabled and approved for the expenditure and revenue shown in the supplementary budget for different departments and sectors. Criticising performance of different provincial departments, the opposition members withdrew their cut motions and all the demands for grant were passed unanimously.

On a positive note, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa budget documents format has been added nuance with quality paper and infographic presentation.
The budget speech is a powerpoint presentation. The white paper, citizen’s guide and debt statistical bulletin have been upgraded and are easy to understand. The details of projected, revised and actual expenditure will hopefully facilitate democratic accountability and transparency.
Though the format has been improved through drastic changes, the substance remains more or less the same. The cliche of tax-free budget, people-friendly budget and historical budget could be heard ad nauseam from treasury benches during the budget debate. Inspector demoted over misbehaviour with MPA

PESHAWAR: The Capital City Police authorities on Monday demoted Inspector Ibad Wazir to the rank of sub-inspector for misbehaving with a member of the provincial assembly.
According to an order issued by the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Yasir Afridi a departmental inquiry was conducted against Ibad Wazir in which he was found guilty.
The order stated that the inquiry officer recommended major punishment to the inspector after which he was demoted to the rank of sub-inspector. The Ibad Wazir who was the Station House Officer of Khazana Police Station faced suspension after he had misbehaved with MPA from Bajaur Ajmal Khan and his gunmen who were personnel of the Bajaur police.
