Don t Jump to Conclusions Over a Breakthrough MS Vaccine Just Yet

4.3 (67) A medical website’s headline screamed, “Breakthrough Multiple Sclerosis Vaccine Shows Impressive Results In Study.” The  New York Daily News joined in, highlighting a potential “breakthrough” vaccine. Other media outlets also were using similar adjectives earlier this month. Unfortunately, it’s normal media hype. I suspect some of it was was encouraged because the company sponsoring the research is BioNTech, which helped to develop one of the COVID-19 vaccines. Now, the company is testing its mRNA vaccine model to see if it can be used to reduce the type of inflammation that destroys myelin. As is typical in these cases, cheerleading by traditional media has generated a lot of social media buzz. The Mark Luchinsky Memorial Lecture Series was endowed by family and friends to honor Luchinsky’s memory through the support of a speaker who “exemplifies intellectual honesty, personal integrity and joy in learning,” according to the Schreyer Honors College website.

Beach Family Foundation, Derby, helps The Little Engine That Could

Community Foundation of Ellis Press Release The Community Foundation of Ellis reaches their $250,000 goal for The Little Engine That Could campaign with a $10,000 grant from the Beach Family Foundation, Derby. The initial objective of the campaign was to construct a storage garage and restore the miniature train belonging to the Ellis Railroad Museum. The miniature train is a one-third scale replica of GM’s 1950s Aerotrain, 1 of 4 ever built, that has been providing rides since 1993 on a three-quarter mile-long track. With the money raised, the Foundation and its partners constructed the new storage garage that represents an old-time loading dock and restored the miniature train. Train rides are anticipated to begin in March when the Ellis Railroad Museum opens for the 2021 season.
