”Work with what you’ve got” was the advice from Cottonwood Heights leaders when the Utah Department of Transportation announced it had millions of dollars from the Legislature to spend on reducing traffic on State Route 210 from Fort Union Boulevard to Alta.
¨We need a little Christmas. Right this very minute, has never been more true than in 2020. And yes, a little Hanukkah and Kwanzaa would be nice as well.
In a year of a surging pandemic, economic uncertainty, protests and political unrest, dashed hopes for travel and socializing and locally an earthquake and windstorm for good measure, why wouldn t we be seeking comfort and cheer? This is the year that s given rise to day-drinking in home offices, the quaran-tini and Zoom cocktail hours.
And, while there s light at the end of the tunnel, we remain stuck in amber for this holiday season, awaiting an end to COVID-19. Let s face it, such news calls for grog and lots of it. To that end, we ve dug into past issues of our sister publication Devour Utah and found drink recipes created by local bartenders and food writers perfect for the season. Thumb through our pages, make a list of ingredients and then visit your local liquor store to stock up.

Speaking of safety, as we re all asking the big question right nowâto travel or not to travel?âhereâs what to expect if you do decide to hit the slopes during the 2021 season in one of the finest ski towns around. Â
SALT LAKE CITY Officials warned Utahns to drive carefully Saturday after inches of overnight snow across northern Utah caused numerous wrecks and delays.
The Utah Department of Transportation tracked several different accidents on its traffic conditions website throughout the day. A rollover crash was also reported near Butler Fork in Big Cottonwood Canyon just before 3 p.m., with three children and one adult all walking away with minor injuries. Expect delays. Please drive with caution on these slick canyon roads, UDOT tweeted. The rollover was cleared after 5 p.m.
The Utah Highway Patrol also reminded Utah drivers on its Twitter account to slow down, increase following distance, wear seat belts and stay alert on the slick roads. Salt Lake Troopers are very busy this morning, it said.
