Feb 2, 2021 4:39 PM Palm Coast, FL - A stilt home in the Hammock Dunes is destroyed after wind-driven flames engulfed most of the home Tuesday morning (February 2nd). A mail carrier spotted smoke coming from the Osceola Avenue home around 11:15 in the morning and called 911, according to investigators. Eight units from Flagler County Fire Rescue and the fire departments of Flagler Beach and Palm Coast responded to the call and were able to extinguish the flames, but most of the main living area was consumed by the fire. Flames were coming from the top balcony of the home when firefighters arrived,” said Interim Fire Chief Joe King. (Fire Rescue) Engine 41 and Rescue 41 quickly located, confined, and extinguished the wind-driven fire that consumed a main area of the occupied residence. The residents of the home were able to escape the fire, along with their pet. The Red Cross was not called as the residents have family in the area. The cause of the fire remains

Flagler County GIS team hosted a state-sponsored drone exercise at the Emergency Operations Center. The training session was sponsored by the Florida Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Working Group based out of Tallahassee.
“These training exercises are a great opportunity for the County and municipalities to work through simulated disasters,” said Flagler County GIS Analyst / UAS Coordinator Matt Adams. “When an actual event occurs, we will have the advantage of already working together as a team so plans can be followed seamlessly.”

Flagler County Emergency Management, Flagler County Fire Rescue, and Flagler Volunteer Services invite residents to sign up for the no-cost, 24-hour program that will be offered in a manner that supports social distancing. Emergency Management Director Jonathan Lord describes the program as an important partnership between the community and professional first responders.

Flagler County Land Management successfully completed a 46-acre prescribed fire on Jan. 21 at Princess Place Preserve, but despite meticulous planning, it was not the launch of FireFlight as a tool of Flagler County’s mitigation program. A broken connector for the aerial ignition machine prevented it.

This is the fifth restaurant for Hause, who opened his first Firehouse Subs in Palm Coast in 2003. Prior to becoming a franchisee, he joined Firehouse Subs in 1998 as general manager of a restaurant in Jacksonville, Florida before being promoted to district manager overseeing six area restaurants.
