Body of Ritchy Volmar, 18, Recovered by Divers in Intracoastal Near Bings Landing After Nearly 24-Hour Search

Last Updated: 1:41 p.m. Two Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation divers found and recovered the body of 18-year-old Ritchy Volmar just after noon today (Feb. 25) in the waters of the Intracoastal not far from Bings Landing in the Hammock. His family was informed soon afterward. Authorities had been searching for Volmar since shortly after his friend called 911 Wednesday afternoon, before 3 p.m., to report that they’d been jet skiing together until Volmar fell off and was lost to sight. His friend attempted to find him, but unsuccessfully. The report triggered a nearly 24-hour search that involved the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, fire rescue teams, FWC and the county’s emergency helicopter.

Flagler County Fire Flight, the emergency helicopter, landed on the southbound lanes of I-95 Monday afternoon to take Daniel R. Macleod to Halifax hospital in Daytona Beach. (© FlaglerLive) Daniel R. Macleod III, a 40-year-old former resident of Palm Coast, was critically injured in a motorcycle crash late Monday afternoon on I-95, just north of Palm Coast Parkway. Macleod later died at Halifax hospital. He was the second motorcyclist to die on Flagler roads in three days. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Macleod, who had been a resident of Hastings, was on his 2017 Harley-Davidson, riding north on the highway’s inside lane. Noel Cable Kreger of Jacksonville was at the wheel of a 205 Chevy Cruze, ahead of Macleod. On Monday, the Department of Transportation began setting up a construction zone just north of the parkway as it readies to repave I-95. Kreger had slowed at the point where his lane was to merge with the center lane.

The incident took place on Rainbow Lane. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office this morning responded to a disturbance call on Rainbow Lane, involving a weapon. The firearm was located and not discharged, and there were no injuries. But the suspect fled on foot. The Sheriff’s Office was searching for the man by ground and air, with Flagler County Fire Flight, the emergency helicopter, assisting. Deputies were called to the scene a little after 8 a.m. The man “doesn’t want to surrender,” a sheriff’s spokesperson said. The agency doesn’t have a description of the man at the moment.
