The Flagler County Health Department continues to modify its near-term vaccination efforts to reach working residents and local businesses.
Last week, the health department shared plans to relocate first dose appointments from the Flagler County Fairgrounds to other locations throughout the county. Second dose appointments on Monday and Tuesday mornings will continue at the fairgrounds for a few more weeks. Those anticipating their second dose should confirm the date, time and location on the back of their vaccination card. Anyone with questions should contact the call center (weekdays) at 386-437-7350 ext. 0.
Planned first dose vaccination activities for the week of April 24 to May 1 follow:
The Volusia County Fairgrounds mass COVID-19 vaccination site, which is run by the county and the health department, will cease operations next week in lieu of more community-focused operations. The state-run COVID-19 testing site in New Smyrna Beach will also close.
The mass vaccination site, which has operated for over three months and has provided more than 74,000 COVID-19 vaccines, will administer the last first doses on Friday, April 30, according to the county.
The reason for the closure, said Kate Sark, spokeswoman for the county, is they are seeing a decrease in demand for appointments. We ve opened the site to walk-ups and are accommodating them around individuals with appointments, Sark said. We also encourage individuals to use FDOH s vaccine locater on their website, as there are many locations throughout the county now offering vaccines.
