N Korea’s hackers advancing: analysts
THREAT TO THE US: Pyongyang’s cyberprogram ‘poses a growing espionage, theft and attack threat,’ an Office of the US Director of National Intelligence report said
AFP, SEOUL
North Korea is advancing on the front lines of cyberwarfare, analysts said, stealing billions of dollars, and presenting a clearer and more present danger than its banned weapons programs.
Pyongyang is under multiple international sanctions over its atomic bomb and ballistic missile programs, which have seen rapid progress under North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
However, while the world’s diplomatic focus has been on its nuclear ambitions, Pyongyang has been quietly and steadily building up its cybercapabilities.

The North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently established a new organization specializing in strategic policy towards the United States, Daily NK has learned. The new office’s establishment could be seen as an attempt by North Korea to conduct more proactive analysis of US intentions in its preparations to negotiate with the US.
A high-level source told Daily NK on May 12 that the North Korean authorities hired approximately sixty new staff to work in the new organization, which is a part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs department focused on negotiations with the US.

I find it quite difficult to accurately read people’s emotions when most of their faces are covered with white paper masks.
Sometimes I try to judge their feelings through their eyes or body language, although I cannot claim to be an expert at this.

North Korea has warned US President Joe Biden that he has made a “big mistake” with his “outdated” stance towards the country.
On Wednesday, Joe Biden had told Congress that he would use “diplomacy as well as severe deterrence” to contain Pyongyang’s nuclear ambitions.

North Korea deemed US diplomacy “spurious” on Sunday, rejecting the idea of talks with Washington, the state-run North Korean news agency reported. The comments come after the US administration said President Joe Biden supported an “open diplomacy” approach with North Korea on denuclearization.
Diplomacy was for the United States a “spurious sign” intended to “cover their hostile acts,” said the North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement released by the KCNA agency. He also warned US President Joe Biden that he had made a “big blunder” with his “outdated” stance towards the country.
