LOS ANGELES (KABC) Spoon by H has served up delicious desserts and Korean dishes for almost a decade, but a surge in dine-and-dash scams has forced the restaurant to temporarily close.
When it opened in 2012 in Los Angeles, chef and owner Yoonjin Hwang started with desserts and later expanded her menu.
Word spread that the food is all really good. From the coffee, to spicy beef japchae which is stir-fried, sweet potato glass noodles to a simple, yet extraordinary kimchi fried rice and crispy waffles. I love kimchi, Hwang said. I think that s why I make so many dishes with kimchi. Like, kimchi friend rice, kimchi pasta.

Wu is one of Cleveland’s most prolific independent filmmakers, having been involved in more than a dozen feature films since 1998. He is also the owner of Media Design Imaging, co-founder of the Cleveland Asian Festival, producer of the annual One World Day at the Cleveland Cultural Gardens, a member on several civic boards, a regular on the comic con circuit and an inductee of two Martial Arts Hall of Fames and the International Indie Filmmakers Hall of Fame.
Most people don’t put a North Korean restaurant on the top of their must-visit list – whether it’s because they think the food will pale in comparison to its South Korean counterpart, or that it’s morally wrong to pay for a meal that goes directly into Kim Jong Un’s pocket. These chain restaurants, owned and operated by the North Korean government, are most often overlooked.

However, we stopped into a Pyongyang restaurant as an opportunity to experience a slight glimpse into the uncanny culture, food and people hailing from one of the most secretive countries in the world – without actually visiting the place.
HALIFAX Police are investigating a pair of break-ins that occurred at two Halifax businesses early Friday morning. At 1:15 a.m. on Feb. 5, officers responded to a report of a break and enter at Song’s Korean Restaurant located at 6249 Quinpool Road. Police say a suspect broke into the store and removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the till. The suspect was not located, and police have not released a description at this time. At 4:44 a.m., officers responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at the NSLC located at 2559 Agricola St. Police say a male suspect broke into the store and removed some product before fleeing the scene on foot.
