Columbus mayor s father dies after cancer battle WSYX Staff © Provided by WSYX – Columbus City of Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther s father, Jeffrey Ginther, passed away Monday morning after a long battle with cancer, according to a statement from the city.  Mayor Ginther said his father and mother, Norma, were married 51 years. Over 30 years, they fostered 47 children. Norma passed away in 2019 © Provided by WSYX – Columbus Jeffrey Ginther was a Vietnam War veteran and was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.  “To most, my father was a quiet man, a man of few words,” Mayor Ginther said. “But in that calmness was strength. He was the perfect balance to my mother’s enthusiasm and creativity and championed her career throughout their 51-year marriage. Together, they were committed to a lifetime of service by fostering 47 children over 30 years. My Dad was one of the best listeners I have ever met. I try every day to incorporate his compassion
