HUDSON — A Hudson police officer jumped into the back of a United Parcel Service truck to stop it after the truck’s driver suffered a suspected drug overdose while driving in the city, Hudson Police Chief L. Edward Moore said. Hudson police responded at about 9:44 a.m. Friday to a report that a UPS truck had struck a vehicle and the victim thought the driver was intoxicated, or that something was wrong with him. Two police vehicles and the bicycle patrol rushed to the area and located the truck at the corner of North Second and Columbia streets, Moore said.

Police: Suspect admits to meeting, killing autistic Bloomsburg woman

A 42-year-old man from Duncannon in Perry County was charged Sunday with homicide, kidnapping and abuse of a corpse after the body of Erica Shultz, Bloomsburg, was found in a wooded area east of Hobbie Road in Butler Twp. Harold David Haulman III admitted to killing Shultz, who was autistic and whom he met on an online dating site in November. He was taken into custody and committed to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility following an arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Daniel O’Donnell in Drums. Haulman was denied bail because of the homicide charge and for being a threat to the public and himself, authorities said.

Man charged after missing Pennsylvania woman found dead in Luzerne Township

Source/Pennsylvania State Police Erica Schultz, 26, of Bloomsburg, was found dead in a wooded area of Butler Township, Pennsylvania on Sunday. Schultz had been missing since Dec. 4. Harold D. Haulman III, 42, has been charged with homicide and related crimes. The body of a 26-year-old Bloomsburg woman who went missing in early December was found Sunday in Luzerne County, resulting in criminal charges against a man state police described as a transient. Erica Schultz was last seen Dec. 4 at her home in Columbia County. Investigators said she disappeared under suspicious circumstances, prompting an extensive search. Schultz was autistic and had the mental capacity of a 13- or 14-year-old, police said at the time of her disappearance. She also was diabetic and had taken her medication on the day she disappeared, family members told authorities.

Police: Hudson man charged with robbery, assault, in separate incidents

Jaleel A. Martin, 23, was charged with third-degree robbery, a class D felony, Moore said. On Nov. 16, at about 7:13 p.m., Hudson Police received a report from the Quick-Mart store, 67 Green St., that the store had been robbed. The store clerk told police a man entered the store and took $375 from the cash register and three packs of $1 lottery cards, Moore said. The man threatened the clerk during the theft and fled the scene before police arrived, Moore said. The clerk was not injured. Hudson police detectives investigated and arrested Martin on Dec. 14. Martin was arraigned by City Judge John Connor in Hudson City Court and was released pending a court appearance at a later date, Moore said.
