Fire chief hired
ELLSWORTH The search for a new city fire chief is finally over, with councilors approving the hire of former Maine firefighter Scott Guillerault to lead the department starting June 21.
“I think he’s going to be a fantastic addition the Fire Department,” City Manager Glenn Moshier said at the May 17 council meeting.
Richard Tupper, the former Ellsworth fire chief, retired recently after 35 years with the department.
Guillerault will arrive from Jaspar County, S.C., but originally hails from Old Orchard Beach. He was lieutenant in the Waterboro Fire Department earlier in his career and served a short stint as a firefighter and paramedic with the Gardiner Fire Department. His paramedic certification fits well with the department, which was certified as a licensed emergency medical services agency last year.

LODI After a national search, the Lodi City Council approved the hire of Ken Johnson to be the city’s new fire chief during Wednesday’s council meeting.
“It turns out that we didn’t have to look farther than a few blocks away from City Hall,” Lodi City Managed Steve Schwabauer said during the council meeting.
With all 5 council members voting to name him new fire chief, Johnson is scheduled to start May 31. Johnson will be replacing Ron Penix, the current interim fire chief, who has been in the position since December, when Fire Chief Gene Stoddart retired after 30 years of service.
