Biden wants leaders to make climate commitments for Earth Day summit

Biden wants leaders to make climate commitments for Earth Day summit Lisa Friedman Save Share Washington | The Biden administration is nearing agreements with Japan, South Korea and Canada to bolster carbon emission reduction targets in all four countries ahead of a closely watched summit of global leaders on Earth Day, April 22. But in the latest sign of how difficult it will be for President Joe Biden to make climate change a core part of his foreign policy, similar deals with China, India and Brazil, economic powerhouses that together produce more than a third of global emissions, remain elusive. America s Big Bet on Selling Fracked Gas to China and the World

DeSmog Jul 19, 2019 @ 11:08 Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is getting a lot of attention these days, with U.S. producers making major investments in the infrastructure to produce and export LNG to China and the rest of the world for the next several decades. That’s despite LNG looking like a big bet that may not ever pay off.  A common question about the super-chilled, easier-to-ship form of natural gas is whether LNG will become “the next coal.” This is a reference to the U.S. coal market’s failure, in part due to climate concerns, but mainly because it can’t compete economically with other sources of electricity, including renewables.

Mexico Seeking to Join Latin American Peers in Hydrogen Push - Natural Gas Intelligence

Mexico Seeking to Join Latin American Peers in Hydrogen Push As numerous Latin American nations announce hydrogen projects with an eye toward the global market, Mexico is looking to join the party. “At a federal level, nothing is really happening,” Mexico energy expert Gonzalo Monroy told NGI’s Mexico GPI, “but there are initiatives at the local level.” One of those initiatives was the formal launch in February of Mexican hydrogen group Asociación Mexicana de Hidrógeno (AMH). Formed by Israel Hurtado, a former commissioner at Mexican energy regulator Comisión Reguladora de Energía (CRE), the organization brings together more than 30 energy companies. It also includes energy trade groups and agencies from the states of Coahuila, Sonora, Tamaulipas, Hidalgo, Campeche, Puebla and Nuevo León.
