Cole County vaccine clinic site seeing a lower vaccine demand than supply Published

The Cole County Health Department says it s seeing fewer people at its clinic than expected, as many doses are being saved due to the lack of demand.
Cole County Health Department in partnership with other local health systems and hospitals has recently opened a permanent vaccine clinic at the Capital Mall in Jefferson City. The clinic is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., appointments are encouraged, but the clinic accepts walk-ins. The clinic has been open to the public for a little over a week now, and the clinic is not seeing the numbers of people that were anticipated.

Outreach clinics in Columbia scheduled to help break down barriers for vaccine-hesitant communities

Vaccine outreach clinics are in place to help make the coronavirus vaccine more available to underserved communities.
The Columbia/Boone County Health Department held an event Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church specifically for the Spanish-speaking community. We thought it was important to make sure we have an outreach clinic for them just because a language barrier can be so difficult, said Sara Humm, spokeswoman for the health department.
Humm said there were staff members and nurses at the event that spoke Spanish and assisted those who needed it through the vaccination process.

Local health care experts are discussing the Johnson and Johnson vaccine after Missouri temporarily suspended use of it.
At least six cases of a rare blood clot disorder have been linked to the shot across the US.
All of those patients were women.
So far, more than seven million doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine have been given to patients across the United States.
ABC 17 News spoke with Dr. Robin Blount from Boone Health and Ashton Day from the Columbia/Boone County Health Department.
