Between 2006 and 2019, the difference between the price dealers paid for gas and the price they charged ranged between 2 and 15 cents a gallon. Known as markup or margin, the difference takes into account the 51 cents per gallon in state and federal taxes, along with delivery costs.
The margin was 10 cents in February. The arrival of the coronavirus pandemic in Idaho changed that. In March, when the Gem State saw its first Covid-19 diagnosis and Gov. Brad Little issued an emergency declaration, the margin shot up to 39 cents.

Officials in the District of Columbia are characterizing a pro-Trump rally planned for January 6 as backed by extremists, but organizers say the event will feature well-respected conservative activists and elected lawmakers from across the country.
According to the rally’s website, it will feature a wide range of conservatives, including Tea Party Patriot’s Jenny Beth Martin; president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles, Ed Martin; founder and president of Moms for America, Kimberly Fletcher; and Andrew Pollack, a school safety activist whose daughter was killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting.
Elected officials slated to speak include Reps. Lance Gooden (R-TX) and Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Reps.-elect Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and Marjorie Greene (R-GA), and State Reps. Vernon Jones (D-GA), Mark Finchem (R-AZ), Doug Mastriano (R-PA), and Anthony Kern (R-AZ).
Less than a week before the results of the presidential election are to be certified, officials in the District of Columbia are fearmongering about a pro-Trump rally scheduled for the same day in the nation’s capital.
