The Saint Edward Seminary was designed by John Graham Jr., father of the architect behind the Space Needle.
For years, the old seminary building in Kenmore s St. Edward State Park posed a strange conundrum. The 90-year-old facade is a stunning sight, five floors of romanesque revival architecture that demanded a huge influx of cash just to keep the building from crumblingâmoney the state park system couldn t spare. Designed by architect John Graham Sr. and used to educate priests for 46 years, it was sold it to the state for $7 million in 1977 and became a gem of a building no one could handle. On Friday, the solution finally materialized: a boutique-style hotel complete with a star chef restaurant and luxury spa.

KING COUNTY, Wash. After many years of dormancy, and many more in development, The Lodge at Saint Edward State Park in Kenmore has opened its doors, again.
It s the same building that housed the St. Edward Seminary until 1976. The 326 acre land was sold to the state a year later and became the Saint Edward State Park. Since that time, the building has been vacant and is now bouncing back to life with a state-approved 62 year lease.
A Restored Washington Seminary Opens as a Hotel Just north of Seattle, The Lodge at St. Edward State Park is a new option for small groups.
About a half-hour north of Seattle, The Lodge at St. Edward State Park opened May 7. The hotel is the result of a seven-year restoration of a national landmark site, originally built as a seminary in 1931.
Empty for 44 years, the property now features 84 guest rooms, with their original doors and natural stone elements, plus 9,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and events spaces.
The largest indoor space is the 2,130-square-foot Remington Ballroom. In addition to prefunction space, the ballroom offers an adjacent 930-square-foot terrace overlooking the property’s Great Lawn. There are also 10 smaller meeting and event spaces ranging from 178 to 1,974 square feet.

Just in time for the bustling summer travel season, downtown Coeur d Alene s newest hotel will officially open on May 1, directly adjacent to the city s eponymous lake.
