City council approved more legislation Tuesday related to moving the housing inspection division out of city hall and into the city Health Department.
The approval just changed some wording to show two separate positions under Environmental Health, one for Director of Environmental Health/Sanitarian and one for Director of Housing/Housing Inspector.
Council had already approved creating a full-time position for housing, along with moving a part-time housing inspector position so both are under the health department’s jurisdiction.
The city currently has one part-time housing inspector. Another part-time inspector retired last year.
Plans call for the hiring of a full-time Director of Housing/Housing Inspector so there will be one full-time inspector and one part-time inspector.

Drug agents and firefighters tend to a meth lab at a Salem home.
SALEM Columbiana County Drug Task Force agents dismantled a meth lab on Newgarden Avenue Friday after executing another search warrant in Salem in 24-plus hours.
Just like the raid the day before on Jennings Avenue, a resident ended up in jail and items seized included a loaded pistol, cash, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
The difference this time, though, was the presence of a dangerous home-cooked meth lab, with six empty Coleman fuel containers and 15 one-pot meth cooks, with many of the cook pots old and dry.
