Colorado launches cannabis business office

Colorado launched a Cannabis Business Office July 28. Backed by a $4 million budget from the state marijuana cash tax fund, the office will provide loans, grants and technical assistance for pot business owners while prioritizing social equity licensees. To be eligible as a social equity licensee, an applicant has to have lived in a disproportionately impacted area for at least 15 years between 1980 and 2010, be related to or guardian of someone arrested or convicted of a marijuana offense, or have forfeited assets during a marijuana investigation. The consulting and technical assistance arms of the Cannabis Business Office will launch in fall 2021 to assist marijuana business owners, and access to loans will start in early 2022. 

Solvista Health donations eligible for special tax credits

Solvista Health announced that donors to its Regional Assessment Center for substance use, withdrawal management and mental health treatment are now eligible to receive special tax credits for their charitable contributions. The center is a nearly 12,000-square-foot building under construction next to Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida, a press release stated. The project received approval by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade to be included in the Chaffee County Enterprise Zone and the tax credit opportunity. Contributions of $250 and more to Solvista Health, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, will qualify the donor to receive a tax credit on their Colorado income tax return, in addition to the current tax deduction available. Solvista Health worked in conjunction with the Upper Arkansas Area Council of Governments to be included in the program. There are 16 Enterprise Zones throughout Colorado in both urban and rural areas.

Friday, 30 July 2021 GE Renewable Energy, LM Wind Power and GE Research in partnership with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) launched the “Automated Blade Finishing” program in 2020, aiming to improve throughput, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), and quality in wind turbine blade manufacturing. Courtesy of GE Renewable Energy Blade finishing includes trimming excess material after molding and grinding blade surface to meet quality requirements. The programme’s vision is to leverage knowledge of advanced composite processing together with sensing, robotics and automation to develop low-cost solutions for wind blade finishing with potential to increase throughput by 30 percent and improve EHS in factories.
