Joyce and Young are also the current co-chairs of the bipartisan Congressional Cannabis Caucus. This Caucus was launched in 2017 by well-known cannabis advocates, former Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, (R-CA) Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), former Colorado Rep. and current Colorado Governor, Jared Polis, and the aforementioned Rep. Young. The Act would remove cannabis from the Controlled Substances Act, provide detailed banking protections for the cannabis industry, allow military veterans access to state-legal cannabis programs, and expand the ability for cannabis research. Within one year of enactment, the Food and Drug Administration and the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau of the Department of t

Colorado House panel advances $75M broadband expansion proposal, largest stimulus bill to date

A House panel on Tuesday advanced a $75 million proposal to build out the state’s broadband infrastructure, the largest state stimulus bill to begin working through the legislative process. House Bill 21-1289 from Reps. Chris Kennedy, D-Lakewood, and Mark Baisley, R-Roxborough Park, divvies up the appropriation by sending: $35 million through the Broadband Deployment Board at the state Department of Regulatory Affairs for so-called “last mile” projects to link telecommunication networks to users’ homes; $5 million to the Interconnectivity Grant Program Fund in the Department of Local Affairs to fund so-called “middle mile” projects linking the last mile to a telecommunication network operator’s core network;

Vandalism at Colorado Governor s Mansion Over the Weekend

While I understand being frustrated with our government or even local politicians, I will never understand why some people think they have the right to vandalize property. That is exactly what took place over the weekend in Denver as KKTV is reporting that the mansion in which Governor Jared Polis and his family live was just one of many homes that were vandalized. The Denver Police Department has an open investigation attempting to find those responsible for the vandalism over the weekend. It sounds like the suspects targeted one specific neighborhood in Denver the Cheesman Park neighborhood. With specific sentences or phrases written across garage doors across the area which included:

Experts say $100 million All-Star game windfall is exaggerated

Here s what local biz leaders think Denver will gain from the game. Author: Ed Sealover (Denver Business Journal) Published: 2:44 PM MDT April 8, 2021 Updated: 2:44 PM MDT April 8, 2021 DENVER This summer’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game at Coors Field could bring an economic impact far less than the $100 million local leaders are touting, but it could have long-term impacts for some businesses and boost hotel rates that have been down significantly for more than a year. The day after MLB officials announced that Colorado would host the event that they yanked from Atlanta in protest of a voting-restrictions law recently passed in Georgia, a number of local economists and businesses spoke Wednesday to Denver Business Journal about the move.

Four Bonanno Concepts Restaurants Face Redevelopment

The low brick building on the northwest corner of Grant Street and East Seventh Avenue began life in the early 1900s as a grocery store; it was built to take advantage of a new streetcar line running along Seventh, straight through a neighborhood where the Colorado Governor s Mansion had also just been completed. Over the decades, many businesses have come and gone from this corner, but for the past twenty years, it has been the site of restaurateur Frank Bonanno s growing group of restaurants and bars. Mizuna opened at the west end of the property in 2001, followed soon after by Luca (facing Grant Street), Bones (which became Lou s Food Bar in 2019) and Vesper Lounge (which took over the venerable Lancer Lounge). Although the four businesses have separate addresses, their spaces are all owned by one company, the Sherman Agency, which recently informed Bonanno that it was considering options for the future, including the possibility of demolishing the structure.
