Sanitas Brewing, in collaboration with Left Hand Brewing, Upslope Brewing, Bootstrap Brewing, Oskar Blues Brewery and Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery, have put together a mix-and-match six-pack to support the families of the victims of the Boulder King Soopers shooting, the brewery says.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the Co Care Can six-packs will be donated to the Colorado Healing Fund, a nonprofit that assists local communities with the financial, emotional and physical needs of victims of mass tragedies that occur in the state of Colorado. The Co Care Can is now available at the taprooms of the above-mentioned Boulder breweries and includes a QR code to take consumers directly to the Colorado Healing Fund. Tote bags with a similar design will also be sold at the taprooms, with all proceeds going to the Fund.
Beware of fraudulent fundraisers for mass shooting victims
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) It s already a difficult time for close family and friends who lost loved ones during a mass shooting in Colorado Springs Sunday, but now scammers are making it an even more turbulent time. It is already a hard time for the entire family and the add-on of the scammers that are trying to benefit from such a tragedy is just tremendous and it is infuriating. I just want to make sure that everybody that wants to donate and help the family, that they can make sure that their money is going to the right place, said Alisha Morales, a close friend of Mayra Perez, one of the victims of the shooting.
The Colorado Springs community is reeling following a mass shooting at a family birthday party early on Mother’s Day. Colorado Springs police say a gunman shot and killed six people before turning the gun on himself. Several children, some as young as 2, 5 and 11, have now lost one or both of their parents.
The victims were identified as Jose Gutierrez, 21, Jose Ibarra, 26, Sandra Ibarra, 28, Melvin Perez, 30, Mayra Perez, 33, and Joana Cruz, 52.
CHF is led by Coloradans with experience dealing with mass violence, like former Columbine principal Frank DeAngelis.
“With tragedies like this where parents are taken from their children too soon, we must think of how we can continue to support the children years from now, as they continue to grow,” DeAngelis said. “As I said all too recently, recovery from a mass shooting is a marathon, not a sprint. I’m so thankful that CHF can help address the emotional needs that come out of a tragedy like this.”
Colorado Healing Fund is accepting donations to support the six people killed in Colorado Springs after a 28-year-old gunman opened fire at a birthday party on Mother’s Day.
Donations will be distributed through the fund’s community partners to victims, including the Colorado Organizations of Victim Assistance, according to the nonprofit’s website.
“This is the second time the Colorado Healing Fund has been activated in less than two months, which is heartbreaking and hard to comprehend,” Jordan Finegan, the executive director, said in a statement. “While we will continue to respond to the Boulder Supermarket Tragedy, we are also officially collecting donations designation to support the victims, and the impacted community of Sunday’s tragic events.
