Just as exciting as these events are for the high school athletes participating, they are also helping boom Pueblo s business scene. “Anytime there’s an event at the fair, we get busier, said Amber Harmon, the Owner of Feelin a Little Philly. The restaurant sits right across from the Southwest Motors Events Center in the Colorado State Fair Grounds, where the wrestling matches are being held.

Bomb threat forces evacuation of southern Colorado elementary school; no explosives found

Pueblo police have given the all-clear after searching an elementary school for explosives Thursday morning. Goodnight Elementary in District 60 was evacuated around 8:20 a.m. after the school received a voicemail claiming bombs were in the campus drainage pipes. Police announced just before noon that the school was safe. No explosives or suspicious devices were located. Students and staff were taken to Southwest Motors Event Center at the Colorado State Fairgrounds after the threat was called in. Parents were immediately notified and able to reunite with their children at the event center. “Right now, our kids are completely safe inside the event center,” said District 60 spokesperson Dalton Sprouse. “Being pulled out of school can be somewhat of a shock. But ultimately, now that they know that they’re here and their parents are coming to pick them up, they’re feeling a lot better.”

COVID-19 testing site at Pueblo Mall will close on Monday

The final day tests will be available there will be Saturday. The Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment issued a release Thursday announcing that the free community testing site, operated by MAKO Medical, will close. Testing at the Colorado State Fairgrounds will continue from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. “The number of people seeking testing in Pueblo County has decreased to the point where we believe it is no longer necessary to operate two testing sites,” said Randy Evetts, director of the Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment, in the release. “We are confident the one testing site at the Colorado State Fairgrounds will be able to handle the current and future demand for testing in our community.”
