Second building at CSU Spur hits major construction milestone 19 Apr, 2021
The final steel beam is scheduled to be placed on the second building at the CSU Spur campus at 11 a.m. on April 20, signaling a major construction milestone for the Colorado State University System project. The moment – called a “topping out” – will be captured via livestream.
The Terra building will open several of its spaces in January and is one of three buildings at the CSU Spur campus at the future National Western Center in Denver. The other two will also be completed in 2022: the Vida building in January, and the Hydro building following in September. Vida “topped out” in February.

In its comments after the results, the CSU System said that while it respects the will of the voters, it reasserted its position that it can use the Site Plan Advisory Review in state law to develop the Hughes Stadium land without approval from city officials.
FORT COLLINS Voters in Fort Collins have overwhelmingly directed the city to try and buy the land that once held Hughes Stadium from the Colorado State University System and turn it into public land.
According to preliminary vote tallies from the Fort Collins Clerk’s Office early Wednesday morning, 68.61% voted in favor of the citizen-led initiative. More than 40,000 voters cast ballots in this election, easily
surpassing the record for the number of ballots cast in a city election since the turn of the millennium.
The fight over Hughes
The CSU System first went under contract to sell the 165-acre site near Horsetooth Reservoir to home developer Lennar Corp. (NYSE: LEN), which wanted to develop the property into a neighborhood containing between 600 and 700 homes.

FORT COLLINS Several seats will change hands on the Fort Collins City Council on Tuesday night, including the mayor’s seat, but the most contentious result will potentially decide the fate of the land where Hughes Stadium once stood.
The 165-acre site on the city’s west side below Horsetooth Reservoir has long been under contract for sale to home developer Lennar Corp. (NYSE: LEN), which wanted to develop the property into a neighborhood containing between 600 and 700 homes.
However, a fierce opposition rose to protest the density of the project, which brought the size of the project down to 550. Other opponents to the project came forward to oppose construction of any kind on the land, saying instead that it should be zoned as open space.
