COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Mayor John Suthers announced today his appointment of Mary Weeks as the new Chief Information Officer for the City of Colorado Springs. This appointment is pending confirmation by City Council. Mary Weeks has been with the City of Colorado Springs Information Technology Department since 2013, most recently in the position of IT Business and Operations Manager. Prior to joining the City, Mary spent 24 years in Information Technology with HP and EDS in roles of senior program manager, team manager, project manager, business consultant, application developer and financial analyst.

TCA SENIOR WINS NATIONAL WRITING AWARD
Daniel D’Agnese, a senior at The Classical Academy, was recently awarded a Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Silver Medal for his writing portfolio, “I’m Not Myself Today.”
The portfolio contained six writing pieces, including short stories. His work previously won a Gold Key at the West Region Writing-at-Large, competing with other writers across the western states. The Gold Key qualified D’Agnese to compete at the National level.
More than 80,000 students submitted nearly 230,000 works of art and writing to the 2021 Scholastic Awards. Only 2,000 works received National Medals, which means D’Agnese’s work is within the top 1% of all submissions. He was selected by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts, for excellence in originality, technical skill and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.

While the Front Range was blessed with much needed snow in March, the state s snowpack has not climbed back up to average on the Western Slope and drought conditions are likely to persist.
As a result of those forecasts, Colorado Springs Utilities expects to rely heavily on its reservoirs this summer, said Patrick Wells, general manager of water resources and demand management for the utility.
But water restrictions aren t expected beyond its permanent Water-wise Rules that limit outdoor irrigation to three days a week, he said Thursday. The rules also prohibit outdoor watering from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from May 1 to Oct. 15.
