John Crowell is proof that it is never too late for a new beginning.
This month, the first-generation college student will graduate summa cum laude with a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Colorado State University.
But his path to success has not been easy – or linear.
Crowell is experiencing college the second time around, while raising his year-old daughter, Ellen, with his wife, Dana.
“John is an excellent student who works very hard,” said V. Chandrasekar, University Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. “And he does it with a cute baby on his lap.”

Despite a year of many changes locally and nationally, Craig Kiwanis Club went the distance to fulfill its mission of supporting area students.
And, that’s even without the group’s biggest fundraiser.
The local branch of the service organization provided more than $15,000 in scholarship funds this week to Moffat County High School students.
Kiwanis’s usual big draw for money is ticket sales for its annual March play, a satire of current events. However, this year the show could not go on due to concerns about a public gathering amid the coronavirus pandemic.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. A region famous for the coal that once fueled a growing nation is now the focus of a $1.2 million project, led by Penn State researchers, aimed at establishing domestic supplies of critical minerals needed to produce modern technology from cell phones to fighter jets.
