Colorado s Marijuana Concentrate Laws Are Changing

Eight New Colorado Towns Allowing Recreational Marijuana Sales

Already home to medical dispensaries, Lakewood is in the process of moving forward with recreational licenses after a citizen ballot measure was approved by 66 percent of voters in November. The new law only permits existing medical dispensaries in good standing with the city to apply for recreational licenses, making it possible for ten total recreational marijuana dispensaries in the city. According to Deputy City Manager Ben Goldstein, four dispensaries have expressed interest through the preliminary application process. However, Goldstein says, the time frame for when recreational sales will be open to the public is still “up in the air” and depends on the speed of processing applications.

Tracking Colorado s Marijuana and Hemp Bills in 2021

Prime sponsors: Representative Matt Gray (D-District 33), Senator Julie Gonzales (D-District 34) Summary: Under current law, a physician is required to conduct an in-person physical examination of a person prior to certifying that the person would benefit from medical marijuana. The bill permits a physician to treat, counsel, and conduct appropriate personal physical examinations, in person or remotely via telephone or video conference, to establish a bona fide physician-patient relationship with a patient seeking a medical marijuana card. Retail marijuana stores are now prohibited from selling retail marijuana and retail marijuana products online and to a person not physically present in the retail marijuana store s licensed premises. The bill would repeal this prohibition.

Colorado Potentially Facing Controversial Marijuana Bill

Colorado Potentially Facing Controversial Marijuana Bill A Colorado Representative has proposed a bill that many say would cripple the current medical and recreational marijuana industry in the state. The Representative, Yadira Caraveo, has put forth a bill that would severely limit the current medical and recreational marijuana industry that has been prevalent in Colorado for several years. One of the major controversial subjects of the bill is that it would limit the sale of marijuana products to those of only 15% tetrahydrocannabinol, more commonly known as THC, or less, which is the psychoactive chemical in the plant. This would include marijuana buds or flower as it s more commonly known, as well as edibles and other forms of the plant. The bill would also prohibit flavored vaporizer products, inhalers, and suppository forms of the plant, which are much less common and largely unknown by most users.
