Obituary: Doris Jean Dewton

Doris Jean Dewton, of Edwards, passed away on July 22, 2021, after a courageous fight with cancer. Doris is survived by her sister Elizabeth Cordaro (John Cordaro) of Reston, Virginia; her niece, Susan Cordaro (Sean Desmond and their child Daniel Desmond) of Brooklyn, New York; and nephews Greg Cordaro of Miami, Florida, and Mike Cordaro (Erica Cordaro and their child Holly Cordaro) of Fairway, Kansas, as well as her stepchildren and stepgrandchildren. Her husband of 34 years, and love of her life, Richard W. Gretz, preceded her in death in 2019. Doris was born in 1947 in Washington, D.C., to Johannes and Hedwig Dewton, who immigrated to the U.S. from Austria. Doris grew up in Arlington, Virginia, and played several sports at Wakefield High School, where she was the valedictorian of her graduating class. She attended Bryn Mawr College, graduating in 1969 with a cum laude degree in political science. She went on to earn a M.A. in Latin American studies from the University of Texas at

Local fashion designer and CMC student debuts fashion collection at Grand Hyatt Vail

Special to the Daily Eagle County’s own Kadia Soulemane, a talented, up-and-coming fashion designer, is bringing her luxury fashion collection, Nganoh, to the Vail Valley during the exclusive Grand Hyatt Vail’s “Hyatt Loves Locals” pop-up events in Cascade Village on July 29, Aug. 7, Aug. 20 and Sept. 4 from 2 to 5 p.m. A modish apparel line, Nganoh is a diverse and eclectic collection of fashions and accessories for both men and women. Soulemane is a current Colorado Mountain College student who is earning an associate degree in business and will then go on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing. Soulemane moved to Eagle County from Senegal 12 years ago, where she and her family were members of the Fulani tribe.

Last year he had seven hives each with between 30,000 and 40,000 bees. Each hive wanted to swarm, which means the bees want to split the hive into two and make a new queen. He was optimistic, but after he split his bees into 14 hives, the flowers dried up and only four made it through the winter. This year just two of his hives are doing well and two are not. His bees are not making drones either.
