Columbus detectives are investigating a West Side woman s death as a homicide after her body was found Sunday morning in an alley in the Hilltop. A passerby had called police after 6 a.m. after seeing the body in the rear of the 500 block of South Terrace Avenue. Patrol officers arrived at 6:18 a.m. and medics with the Columbus Division of Fire pronounced the woman dead at the scene at 6:26 a.m. The woman has been identified by police as 33-year-old Ashley Ann Sweeney. Homicide detectives indicated in a news release that they have not determined a cause of death other than to say it was a homicide. A police dispatcher told The Dispatch that police were called to the scene on a reported shooting.
