CSIRO Health Director calls for harder restrictions otherwise COVID goes wild
One of Australia s top scientific authorities has said that Sydney should install harder COVID lockdown measures or warns the virus goes wild .
CSIRO Health Director Dr Rob Grenfell told Weekend Today that NSW should be looking at Victoria s harder lockdown measures to stop the more extensive spread of human-to-human contact.
The warning comes as New South Wales yesterday recorded 97 new local cases and Victoria recorded six new local cases.

A heat-tolerant COVID-19 vaccine formulation developed by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru has proven effective against all current SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern, according to a study in animals.
The research, published in the ACS Infectious Diseases journal on Thursday, showed the vaccine formulations by IISc-incubated biotech start-up Mynvax triggered a strong immune response in mice.
The formulation also protected hamsters from the virus and remained stable at 37 degrees Celsius up to a month, and at 100 degrees Celsius for up to 90 minutes, the researchers said.
The team, including researchers from Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), noted that most vaccines require refrigeration to remain effective.

Information
Almost all other vaccines require refrigeration For example, the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, known as Covishield in India, must be kept between 2-8 degrees Celsius and the Pfizer preventive requires specialized cold storage at minus 70 degrees Celsius.

All formulations of Mynvax result in antibodies: Co-author
Australia s national science agency has found that a warm COVID-19 vaccine suitable for remote locations is effective against all key variants of the virus.
In a study published on Thursday, researchers from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) evaluated the efficacy of heat-tolerant coronavirus vaccine formulations developed by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and biotechnology company Mynvax.
They found that the formulations triggered a strong immune response against all SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern in mice and hamsters. Our data shows that all formulations of Mynvax tested result in antibodies capable of consistent and effective neutralization of the Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern, S. S. Vasan, the CSIRO s COVID-19 project leader and co-author of the report, said in a media release.
