Accordingly, the total number of deaths due to Covid-19 infection in Sri Lanka is 445 and the details released by the Department of Government Information are as follows; 01. The deceased is a 74 year old male from Kolonnawa. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus and transferred from General Hospital Colombo to the Base Hospital Homagama where he died on 21.02.2021. The Cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and a liver disease.

COA halts final rites of COVID-19 victim

Share: COLOMBO (News1st): The Court of Appeal today ordered the Director of the Colombo South Teaching Hospital and its Judicial Medical Officer to suspend the last rites of the body of a 26 – year – old man attached to the Kotelawala Defense College. The deceased has been identified as a Covid-19 patient following his sudden death. The order was given by the Presiding Judge of the Court of Appeal Arjuna Obeysekera and Mayadunne Correa considering an appeal after a resident of Trincomalee stated that a PCR test conducted by the Kotelawala Defense College after the sudden death of his son, who was in good health, revealed that he was infected with COVID19.

Share: Colombo (News 1st); The Director General of Health Services confirmed eight (08) deaths caused by Covid-19 virus infection on Saturday (06).  Accordingly, the total number of deaths due to Covid-19 infection in Sri Lanka is 351 and the details of Saturday’s deceased are as follows;  01.The deceased was a  77-year-old female from Kochchikade . She was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus and transferred from District Hospital Negombo to the IDH Hospital where she died on 06.02.2021. The Cause of death is mentioned as shock due to blood poisoning, Covid pneumonia and acute kidney disease.  02.The deceased was a  73-year-old female from Kadawatha

LankaWeb – 5,286 frontline healthcare workers receive Covid vaccine

Posted on January 29th, 2021 Courtesy Adaderana A total of 5,286 frontline healthcare workers have received the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine on the first day of coronavirus vaccination drive which kicked off in Sri Lanka today (29). Approximately 1,886 persons were administered the vaccine at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, 803 persons at Colombo North Teaching Hospital, 781 at Colombo South Teaching Hospital, 600 at Army Hospital and 400 at Army Camp Panagoda. Another 382 were vaccinated at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children, 190 at Homagama Base Hospital, 108 at Mulleriyawa Base Hospital, 80 at IDH and 56 at the Welisara Navy Camp.  The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health stated that health staff and other frontline workers in Covid-19 prevention activities attended very enthusiastically” for the immunization programme.
